Few hedgerows quite match the rich and dense evergreen foliage of a Cherry Laurel.
Also known as English Laurel, this hedge of glossy green leaves acts as a remarkable backdrop for garden displays up and down the country, featuring springtime shows of dainty white flowers.
In the winter months, when most other plants and gardens are starting to tire, the flowers fade to make way for festive displays of cherry-red berries, providing food for birds at a time when it is most needed.
Recommended by the RHS as a ‘Plant for Pollinators’, the floral aroma of these blooms draw the attention of bees and other insects to transform the garden into a haven of wildlife.
This hardy hedge performs well in most soil types and areas of the garden, including full sun or partial shade, although it is not suited to coastal conditions.
Cherry Laurel hedges grow by 30-60cm every year, making them easy to control at a reasonable height for the garden.
Don’t forget to use one of our handy bamboo cane and spiral guard sets when planting a bare root hedge. The cane will keep the bare root upright as it grows, while the spiral guard will protect the base of the plant from wildlife to achieve as thick a hedge as possible.
Supplied as a bare root hedge, 40-60cm tall, ready for planting.
