Description
A compact tree that bursts into exceptional blooms to mark late winter and early spring, year after year.
Also known as the 'Fuji Cherry', with red buds that almost appear to dance around the branches, opening to reveal pale-pink flowers, each accented with a red centre.
Even ideal for a smaller garden or for pot growing on the patio, 'Kojo-no-Mai' provides autumn interest when the green leaves turn to a bright shade of reddish orange, before falling. The statuesque form of the tree is also a joy to observe on frosty mornings when a haw-frost shows it off to its very best.
Here available in an eye-catching 'standard' form, skilfully crafted into a lollipop shape with a tall, clear stem and a ball of foliage and flower at the top. This is a really unique and exciting way to bring colour and life into the garden. Perfect for growing in pots and containers on the patio, because of its standard form it will remain compact and can therefore be grown in even the smallest of spaces, such as terraces and balconies.

Top Tips
Best planted in autumn, from October to November choose a sheltered location (to protect the blossom when it emerges in the spring).
Care Information
- Dig a square hole as deep as the roots and approximately 1.5x as wide.
- Add Mycorrhizal fungi to the planting hole to help the plant establish quicker.
- Spread the roots gently and place into the planting hole.
- Mix well rotted compost or manure with the soil taken from the hole and then use to backfill around the tree. Keep well-watered until established.
- Keep the area free of competing weeds and protect the tree with a rabbit guard if necessary to protect your young cherry tree.
- Pruning your tree is not usually necessary unless you need to remove damaged or broken branches.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
