Key Features

  • Be one of the very first to grow this brand new variety, it adds an amazing tinge of colour to a mixed perennial garden
  • Almost disregarded and thought to have something wrong with it, tests revealed it was 100% healthy and is actually a completely natural colour break (called a 'sport')
  • The green edges become more pronounced the older the plants get, and take a couple of years for the fresh lime green tips to be at their best
  • Striking in a mixed border where it will really stand out, but just as ideal for pots and containers on the patio, it's a hardy perennial that will keep coming back year after year, even bigger and better
  • Supplied in a 9cm pot – even ideal for patios or borders!

Description

Echinacea, also known as the Coneflower, are hardy perennials that flower at the height of summer and continue until the first autumn frosts. The name refers to the cone-shaped centre of the large, brightly coloured flowers. Not only are they beautiful, they’re also one of the best plants you can grow for attracting all manner of wildlife into your garden.

‘Green Twister’ flowers in a vibrant clash of bright magenta and acid green in a stunning display throughout the summer. The unusual two-tone petals almost glow with brightness as they meet at the large, reddish brown central cone of the flower. The green edges become more pronounced as the plant ages, and it will take a couple of years for them to be at their very best.

An exceptionally robust variety, ‘Green Twister’ will flower up until the first autumn frosts, carries its flowers on long, straight stems which makes them ideal for cutting. They’re also attractive to bees and butterflies and are recommended by the RHS as a ‘Plant for Pollinators’. If you leave faded flowers on the plant, the seed heads will be enjoyed by your garden birds.

Supplied as an established plant in a 9 cm pot, ready to plant, growing to a height of 6 cm (2 ft) and spread of 4 cm (16 in).

Top Tips
  • Cut back the stems of faded flowers to encourage more or leave them on the plants to produce seed for your garden birds.
Care Information
  • Grow in any fertile, well-drained humus rich soil in full sun, although some shade will be teolerated.
  • Water your potted plant well.
  • Dig a hole a little deeper and 3 x wider than the nursery pot.
  • Add a soil conditioner such as well-rotted manure to the earth removed from the hole if necessary.
  • Remove the plant from its pot and tease out a few of the roots.
  • Place your plant in the hole at the same level at the pot.
  • Refill the hole with the earth removed (backfilling).
  • Firm in the spoil with you heel, avoiding the root ball.
  • Water well until established.
  • Echinacea are generally pest free, although young growth may be damaged by slugs.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
