You’ll enjoy flowers for up to six months - just deadhead spent blooms to keep it tidy and blooming.

When Your Plant Arrives:

• Carefully unpack your Tradescantia and give it a good drink of water if the compost feels dry.
• It’s supplied as an established plant in a 9cm pot, so it’s ready to be planted straight out into the garden or into a larger decorative container.
• Let it settle somewhere sheltered for a day or two if the weather is still chilly.

Planting Out

• Choose a spot in full sun or light shade - it’s pretty versatile! This hardy perennial enjoys well-drained soil, so if your ground is heavy, add some grit or compost to improve drainage.
• Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball, gently tease out the roots, and plant so the top of the compost sits level with the surrounding soil.
• Firm in and water well to settle it.
• If planting in a container, choose one at least 20-25cm in diameter with good drainage holes.
• Use a quality multi-purpose compost, and don’t forget to raise the pot off the ground slightly to aid drainage during wetter spells.

Ongoing Care

• Tradescantia ‘Brainstorm’ is wonderfully low-maintenance.
• Just water regularly during dry spells, especially in the first season while it’s settling in.
• It benefits from a liquid feed every few weeks through the growing season to encourage non-stop flowering.
• In autumn, cut back faded stems to keep the plant compact and neat, and mulch lightly for extra protection, though it’s fully hardy in most UK gardens.

If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.
