Description

Bring a burst of freshness to your garden and your kitchen with Garden Mint, the must-have herb for every gardener and chef. This versatile and aromatic herb is as easy to grow as it is to use.

With its lush green leaves and unmistakable fragrance, Garden Mint is perfect for enhancing everything from summer drinks and cocktails to salads, sauces, and desserts. Imagine picking your own mint leaves to garnish a mojito, create a refreshing mint tea, or flavour a roast lamb dish.

Garden Mint is wonderfully versatile and thrives in almost any garden setting. Whether you plant it in borders, beds, or pots, it grows quickly and abundantly, providing a continuous harvest. This hardy perennial is incredibly low-maintenance and adapts well to most soil types.

If you’re growing in containers, mint’s spreading nature makes it ideal for pots, where it can be easily contained. Group it with other herbs on your patio or kitchen windowsill for a practical and decorative display. Not only does it provide culinary benefits, but its aromatic leaves also help to deter pests.

Supplied as six plug plants.

Top Tips
  • Begin harvesting leaves once the plant is well established, typically a few weeks after planting.
  • Pick leaves as needed, starting with the outer stems to encourage continuous growth.
  • Use sharp scissors or your fingers to gently snip the leaves.
  • Avoid harvesting more than one-third of the plant at a time to maintain its vigour.
Care Information
  • Plant your mint plug plants in spring or early summer once the risk of frost has passed.
  • Mint grows best in a sunny or partially shaded location.
  • Choose well-drained, moist soil enriched with organic matter like compost.
  • Loosen the soil, remove weeds, and enrich it with compost or well-rotted manure.
  • Space plants about 30cm apart to allow for spreading growth.
  • Dig a hole slightly larger than the plug. Place the plug plant in the hole and gently firm the soil around it.
  • Water thoroughly after planting to help the roots establish.

For pot growing:

  • Use a pot with a diameter of at least 20cm or group multiple plants in a larger container.
  • Ensure the pot has drainage holes and add a layer of gravel or crocks at the bottom.
  • Fill the pot with multipurpose compost mixed with grit for drainage.
  • Place the plug plants in the pot, firm gently, and water well.

Caring:

  • Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water more frequently during hot or dry weather.
  • Feed with a general-purpose liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to encourage lush growth.
  • Regularly trim back stems to prevent the plant from becoming woody and encourage fresh, new growth.
  • Remove any flower buds as they appear to prolong the production of leaves.
  • Mint spreads vigorously, so plant it in containers or use barriers in the ground to contain its growth.
Delivery Information

Please allow us 3-5 working days to dispatch your order. Pre-ordered items will be sent as soon as possible after the date quoted and we'll generally ship your entire order with your pre-ordered items. When your order is dispatched, we'll send you another email with details of how to track it.

Most orders are sent on a fully-tracked courier service with Yodel. To avoid perishable items being stuck at depots and deteriorating, no signature is required, and our courier is asked to leave your order in a safe place on your property.

We'll send a tracking link when we dispatch your order, so you know when its due to arrive. Please note, once delivered we cannot be held responsible for loss or theft from your property. If you have any specific delivery instructions, please let us know - there's an option to enter a short message for the courier at the checkout.

Smaller, lighter, single-item orders may be sent through the post with Royal Mail - in which case no tracking is available.

Our experienced nursery team will always send your plants nursery fresh in the perfect condition to thrive when you plant them, so although most plants are very tough and will not be affected by all but the most extreme frosts or heatwaves, we avoid dispatching the most perishable plants if extreme weather is forecast, or over Bank Holiday weekends.

Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery on a certain day or time. Delivery to outlying postcode areas may take 1-2 days longer, dependent on your location.
