Newly Launched Beautiful Rose Backed By Television Celebrity

Delightful charity rose to raise funds and awareness for autism charity

A brand-new rose has been launched to not only bring a beautiful new addition to UK gardens, but also help to support and raise awareness for an incredibly important cause.

The ‘Little Sid’ rose is named after Sid Wallace, who is the son of television presenter Gregg Wallace, and is one of the latest additions to the rose market. As a charity variety, for every rose sold a donation is made to a very good cause.

Impressive displays are very easy to grow with this patio variety, as beautiful raspberry red roses erupt in abundance for many months of the year.

As young Sid is autistic and non-verbal, Gregg has launched this rose in collaboration with the Harkness Rose Company to raise funds and awareness for the vital work carried out by Ambitious about Autism, which is a charity centred around the lifelong developmental disability of autism.

On the launch of the rose, Gregg, who is a proud ambassador for Ambitious about Autism, said: “Raising an autistic child has many challenges but also great joys, as other families with lived experience will know. Anna and I are very proud of our wonderful son Sid and this rose is a celebration of him and all autistic young people.

“I hope it will help to increase understanding and acceptance of autism. The fact that donations will enable the Ambitious about Autism charity to support more autistic children and young people is incredible.”

Jolanta Lasota, chief executive of Ambitious about Autism, added: “This beautiful rose embodies the pride and love that Gregg and his family have for Sid – feelings that will be shared by families of autistic children everywhere.”

‘Little Sid’ is a beautiful patio rose that bursts to life for months from spring to autumn with an abundance of blooms. The headline colour erupts from short and bushy plants, formed of glossy, dark green foliage. The showy, light raspberry red petals deepen slightly to ruby towards the centre of each flowerhead, drawing the attention of any guest to the garden.

“This rose is a celebration of him (Sid) and all autistic young people.”

This rose is a top-notch problem-solver for those who want to encourage more wildlife into their garden, as the blooms are particularly attractive to pollinators, such as butterflies and buzzing bees.

Also, do not feel stuck for garden locations to plant, as the ‘Little Sid’ rose looks remarkable whether used to fill beds or borders, or to decorate pots or containers.

The ‘Little Sid’ rose is available to purchase now as either bare root or potted in a 3-4L container. For every rose sold, a donation of £5 will be made to Ambitious about Autism (registered charity no. 1063184.)

This national charity runs specialist schools and colleges for autistic children and young people in London and the South East of England.
